Morpeth Stags 25 – 7 West End
A tough game for West End today losing out to an experienced Morpeth side for the third time this season.
It started with Ewan Pritchard hitting hard from the off with his forwards following through. West End then found themselves tracking back downhill with multiple kicks from the Morpeth 10 which gave them an opportunity to score first, which they did. West End then showed more dominance with scrums and lineouts to gain metres up the pitch. From there Ali Thornton popped the ball off to Harvey Thompson who sped through the Morpeth pack to score a great solo try for West End. West End themselves on the wrong end again with a heavy crashing 13 bursting through to score for Morpeth.
The second half came and West End once again powered through the pack to gain space and play off the backs with Craig Allmond powering his way up the field. Once again Morpeth burst through to score two tries to sink West End for good. West End then started playing wide ball giving Ewan the chance to run again unfortunately he got away after stepping the man only for it to be pulled back for disruptive play from a fellow Westender. Once again West End showed great ability in scrums and lineouts gaining space up the pitch where Tony Kay box kicked the ball over the top but Morpeth closed it down.
Ewan Pritchard came off with injury after having his best game of the season for Scott walker. Then another try came for Morpeth which finished it all off and the whistle went from there.
West End will play Blyth at home on 4th March in the semi final for the County Junior Plate.
