Novos III 31-17 West End

An eye opening friendly game for West End playing well against a team one tier above them but ultimately losing out.

The shortage of recognised backs continued this week with Jamie Shilling and Mike Marra making up the centre pairing, Craig Allmond was back at fly half

It all started with West End and Novos both battling out at the lineouts which were going West’s way with John McGrann and Daniel Livingstone jumping in the line. West End were by far the better team in the opening 30 minutes, attacking in Novos 22 but not able capitalise from it, the opening then came in the game when Novos broke down the right and scored to make it 5 nil. West End were not stopping there when a reluctant to pass Mike Marra rsulted in a great line break and a try. West End then were on it again when Marra passed it to Pritchard who was held up at the line.

A horrific injury came for West End with Craig Allmond, who was having another great game at 10, taken to hospital with an ankle injury. This then came with a change with Thornton moving in at 10, Hutchinson moving to 15.

A steady first half then ended with West End still in the game. Second half then came and unfortunately, James Haskell, sorry John McGrann came off with a head injury. This gave Dan Livingstone a chance to come back on after a very short rest. Then Dean Henderson came off for Darren Seddon and Harry came on for Paul O'Neill. West End then scored another try where Joe Rowan went over for another this season. West End then conceded another two tries putting them out of the game. Scott Walker came on at the wing and then Jacob Foy replaced Tony Kay just to see how he would cope at scrum half.

Dean Henderson then went crazy just like if someone took his kebab off him and got into bother with both Harry and Ewan. Well Ewan thought it was a little amusing, knowing he would be useless in a fight against three fat men. No offense Dean.

The final West End try came from new player Darren Seddon who burst over from short range to pick up his first try for the club.

Final score 31 – 17 to the home side

Tries: Marra, Rowan, Seddon
Conv: Thornton
